16 Years of Connecting Brands with Muslims; A Journey of Purpose over Unethical Profit

More than sixteen years ago, there was no such thing as a Muslim Ad Network. There were just two publishers, running websites built for their community, trying to do the one thing every publisher needs to do to survive: monetize their traffic.

The ad networks available to them at the time didn't care what showed up next to their content. Ads that had no place anywhere near a platform built to serve Muslims. Every available option meant choosing between paying the bills and compromising on what they stood for.

That shouldn't have been a choice any Muslim had to make. So they built the alternative themselves. Speaking about Muslim Ad Network's CEO, Tabish Hasan and CRO, Saad Ahmad.

The premise was never complicated: advertising doesn't have to mean explicit or inappropriate content. Advertising is just brands and audiences finding each other and there was an entire audience, a global Ummah, whose values weren't being served by the ad industry at all.

The Ummah needed it. And a part of the Ummah built it.

What started as two people solving their own problem, grew into a network that could do the same thing for Muslim publishers everywhere. Halal revenue, without compromise, without the ads they'd never want their own visitors to see.

The early days were anything but easy

Building something that doesn't exist yet rarely is. There was no playbook for a halal ad network, no established brands to point to, no proof that this could actually work at scale. Just two people, a conviction, and a lot of unanswered questions.

There were slow months. There were brands that didn't understand why this mattered, and publishers who weren't sure an ethical alternative could actually pay the bills. Every early conversation was a case they had to make from scratch and that too not just for a product, but for an entire idea: that a community's values and its revenue didn't have to be at odds.

And then came the first deal!

It wasn't just a contract. It was confirmation. The moment that first brand said yes, something shifted which signaled, that this wasn't just a nice idea anymore, it was a real business, serving a real need, for a real community that had been waiting for exactly this. That first "yes" was proof that the road they were on, however uncertain it looked from the outside, was the right one.

From that point forward, there was no looking back with doubt. Every deal after the first was built on that same conviction — this network wasn't just possible, it was necessary.

Where we are today

Sixteen years later, we've had the privilege of working with leading global brands and emerging brands alike, helping them reach a Muslim audience that's engaged, loyal, and actively looking for products that match with their values. On the other side, we've helped publishers across the Ummah turn their platforms into sustainable, ethical businesses, earning real revenue without ever touching haram advertising.

Over the years, we've made it a point to show up in person for the community we serve by sponsoring 6+ Muslim-centric events around the world so far, including Halal Expo Canada, Halal Expo London, and Halal Expo Indonesia. And they were great opportunities to meet the people behind the platforms we work with, and to be part of rooms where the Ummah's economic future is consistently being shaped.

We're still proudly, a lean team. We always have been. What we've built wasn't the result of a large company with unlimited resources. It was faith, purpose, and the support of a community that believed this mattered as much as we did. Large missions don't need large teams. They need the right ones.
